NIMA Logo Reveal
In May of 2023, the Inland Northwest Aerospace Consortium (INWAC) underwent a rebrand. They were expanding from aerospace to include all manufacturing. They were to have a new name, the Northwest I-90 Manufacturing Alliance (NIMA), and a new logo.
The rebrand was going to be announced during the I-90 Aerospace+ Corridor Conference and Expo, the region’s premier aerospace and advanced manufacturing event. I was tasked with creating an animated reveal of the new logo to accompany the announcement of INWAC’s rebrand that would take place during the conference.
When coming up with ideas for the animation, I wanted to do something industrial that could be related to manufacturing. I used multiple layers of the CC Particle Effect with different settings in Adobe After Effects to create the sparks. I also wanted to drag out the reveal of the logo for as long as I could in order to build anticipation, which is why the logo first appears as black, as if it was engraved into the metal, and then it fades into the official, colored logo. When picking the sound effects to add onto the video, I wanted a crackling sound to accompany the sparks, but I didn’t want the audio to end before I the real logo was revealed. That is when I added the swoosh sound effect to the end of the video, just as the logo is fading into color. This sound reminded me of an airplane, which was fitting given NIMA’s association with aerospace, and the subtle sound provided me with a smooth transition from the animation to the final logo.
